In view of the coming functional integration between the intra-day energy market (MI) and the ancillary services market (MSD) - based on the guidelines given by the Ministry of Economic Development - GME held test sessions of the intra-day market (sessions MI3 and MI4) together with operators from Monday 29 November 2010.
Blank tests on the 2011 MSD will start on a subsequent date, which will be timely notified.
Blank tests on the MI3 and MI4 take place every day, from Monday to Friday. The timetable are posted on the live and test market platforms.
The procedures for submitting bids/offers for the MI3 and MI4 will be similar to those for the MI1 and MI2.
Procedure for participating in the tests
- All interested parties may participate in the tests:
- for those qualifying as market participants and already registered with the IPEX platform, GME will directly align their identification data on the test platform with those of the live platform;
- those not qualifying as market participants must send a registration application via e-mail to: provemsd@mercatoelettrico.org
- Access to the platform will be via digital certificate.

Moreover, on 2 December 2010, at 14:30, GME held a meeting with operator to describe the operational procedures of the MI3 and MI4 sessions. It is through these sessions that, on 1 January 2011, GME will implement the functional integration of the intra-day energy market with the ancillary services market.
During the meeting, GME also covered the Market Coupling project on the Italian-Slovenian border, which is scheduled to soon go into operation.
